About Lynn Krown
As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Couples Therapist, I work with individuals, couples, families and groups from diverse backgrounds and sexual orientations.
I have a life-long committment to personal growth and have always been a seeker. I walk my talk! My dream was always to be a psychotherapist and finally at age 59, I returned to graduate school in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University. I’ve been there myself and I’m passionate about fostering self-understanding leading to a sense of possibility and new life choices.
I bring over 30 years of experience and knowledge from an evolving career in education and business as a seminar leader, organization development and career consultant. I don’t live in an ivory tower and have sophisticated business knowledge that informs my work.
I also have “lived” experience of the Women’s Movement, the Sexual Revolution and the Consciousness and Hippie Flower Power Movements. Beginning in college, I was drawn to cultural influences of philosophers and artists who were embracing the evolution of Consciousness.
Being a life-long learner, I’ve studied with cutting-edge leaders in subjects related to love, sexuality, spirituality, consciouness, psychology, creativity, and holistic healing. Since 1973, I’ve had a meditation practice, long before mindfulness went mainstream.
In 2014, I completed a program called Urban Zen which integrates Yoga Therapy with mindfulness meditation and other self-care modalities including yoga therapy, Reiki and aromatherapy. I’m a healer and practice what I teach.
In 2013, I completed a year-long training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy focused on early infant attachment and primitive mental states and strategies to work with and repair trauma in adults. My work with couples is informed by this work.
I have certificates of completion in Somatic Psychotherapy and Attachment and Interpersonal Neurobiology from UCLA. Click here for an extensive list of credentials.
I completed internships at Valley Community Clinic (VCC) in North Hollywood and the Jung Institute Los Angeles where I was supervised by prominent psychoanalysts and Jungian Analysts which helped me integrate psychodynamic approaches with depth psychology.
On a personal note, I’ve married, birthed and parented three offspring, buried parents and siblings, and have earned wisdom while maintaining a “beginners’ mind.” It is important for me to also help patients see their individual journey in the context of Everyman and Everywoman, as part of the Great Life Mystery.
Do not believe that he who seeks to comfort you lives untroubled among the simple and quiet words that sometimes do you good. His life has much difficulty… Were it otherwise he would never have been able to find those words. -Rilke
